We have begun the feasibility study to build a small satellite in the 5 kg mass range (microsatellite). This scale is challenging target for the microsatellite development. In study, we plan to build several key technologies such as small reaction wheel, small electric propulsion, docking mechanism, electrical recharging device and software for three axis attitude control by using image processing. In this paper, we mentioned the experimental test, which was carried on October 27 and 28 in 1999, of the original releasing and docking mechanism for microsatellite model under the microgravity condition at Kamisunagawa in Hokkaido, Japan.
