Application of machine vision techniques for the evaluation of highway pavements in unstructured environments

Machine vision approach was applied in automating pavement distress measurement procedure. Current automated distress measuring devices are described. The paper discusses various image processing algorithms adopted for such devices. Limitations of the automated devices are presented.
