Rotary tool electric discharge machining (REDM) is a process variant of electric discharge machining (EDM). The advantage with REDM is in ease of debris removal due to effective flushing. Present work focusses on multicriteria optimization of REDM on Metal matrix composite (MMC). The output characteristics are Material removal rate, tool wear rate and surface roughness. Different researchers have different opinions regarding output results with multicriteria optimization problems. So in a number of multicriteria optimization techniques, the weights given to outputs are decided on intuition basis. To solve this problem a systematic and unbiased approach for calculation of weights known as "User preference rating" has been used in this research work. The calculated weights have been used further for multicriteria optimization by utility technique. The optimum combination has been validated through experimental results.
