The tool (1) has a cutting surface (2) made of single-crystal diamond, where the cutting surface consists of a set of edges distributed on a circumference of the tool in a regular manner. The edges are carried out in a shape of projecting pyramids placed in diamond points. The projecting pyramids comprise a height lower than two milli meters. The cutting surface is in ribs positioned parallel with respect to each other. An independent claim is also included for a process for machining hardness materials.
