For answering the question that whether the relaxation mode of sound field in a given room with diffusely reflecting boundaries is unique, in this paper, the effect of initial energy distribution on the sound field relaxation is primarily studied in a rectangular long room by setting a sound source at different positions. It shows that the sound field relaxes differently and even quite much, depending on the initial energy distribution in the room. Thus, the non-unique relaxation mode of sound field in a given room is convinced.
