STAKEHOLDER PROCESSES AND SUCCESS INTRAFFIC INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

The relationship among stakeholders is a crucial factor in the success of large-scale ITSrnprojects. Unfortunately, most knowledge in this area is based on qualitative "lessons learned"rnwhich are difficult to generalize from project to project. The reported research quantifies thernchallenges and enablers of success in traffic incident management (TIM) projects. Amongrnfive challenges identified in the study, "uncertainty" had the largest impact on success.rnAmong five enablers identified, two factors, "efficacy" and "sense of equality", significantlyrnimpact success. The results have implications for managing complex stakeholder relations tornachieve greater success and for continued research to calibrate these important issues.
