Cementation Effect of Cement-Fly Ash in the System of Asphalt Pavement Cold In-Place Recycling

Cement is one kind of normal stabilizer which always used in cold in-place recycling system. This article designed different reclaimed asphalt pavement mixture (RAP) and different stabilizers of cement-fly ash. By means of standard compaction test, unconfined compressive strength, water stability and SEM test, the optimal designs of soil and asphalt(S/A) in RAP and the cementation effect of cement-fly ash were studied. It showed that optimum moisture content and the maximum dry density of RAP increased with the rise of cement content. In the article, when adding 6% cement and 4% fly ash, S/A=l:l and S/A=3:l, the contents of water are 10% and 11%, the maximum dry density and compaction strength of RAP can be achieved. The study also showed good capacities of RAP can also be obtained when adding proper content of fly ash instead of cement in RAP and it will be more economical.
