Analysis to Abnormal Wear Phenomena of SEN for TSCC in Application

SEN is a key relative technology to TSCC. Sometimes there are some abnormal erosion phenomena in slag line during applications of SEN, such as over-erosion, penetration, decarbonization of inside wall of SEN, which influence the heats of continuous casting. In this studies the microstructure of used SEN samples were examined by SEM, the causes of the abnormal erosion phenomena were analyzed from slag corrosion mechanism, reaction between carbon containing refractories and molten steel, properties of refractories. Suggestions were also given for improvement of the quality of SEN.
