During five months, the first Egyptian thermocouple round robin Inter laboratory comparison has been conducted among five industrial calibration laboratories. This round robin was based on recommendations to the National Laboratories Accreditation Bureau (NLAB) of the National Institute for Standards (NIS), Egypt. The travelling standard circulated is Platinum- 10%Rhodium vs. Platinum (type-S) thermocouple, used the temperature range from 100 ℃ to 1000 ℃ provided by the thermometry department of NIS was used. The measurements are carried out by comparing the travelling standard with the standard thermocouple of each calibration participant laboratories. The travelling standard was measured by each participant according to a measurement protocol provided by the thermometry department of NIS through NLAB. NLAB also managed the round robin program and played the coordinator's role between the participating laboratories. The analysis of the round robin results and judging the quality of measurement results of each participant laboratory were carried out by the thermometry department of NIS as the pivot laboratory. In the few cases, where necessary, the measurement conditions at the calibration laboratories already have been improved.
