Study on the Operating Safety of High-speed Train Under Strong Cross Wind

The research work of this paper is achieved with the help of aerodynamics and the vehicle system dynamics. Firstly, Making full use of the hydrokinetics and based on an aerodynamic model of a high-speed train in which contains tree vehicles, the loads of strong cross wind in different velocity to the high-speed train are calculated with FLUENT. Next, a high-speed train dynamic model included three cars is established, and the forces and the moment of the wind to the train are exacted as the extra loads on the train model. Based on dynamic calculation, the influence of the strong cross wind to the dynamics of the high-speed train is simulated. Lastly, according to the safely operating criterion, the maximal safely running velocity of the high-speed train under the strong side-wind is offered for the first time in this paper. It is very helpful of the research work to ensure the operating safety of the high-speed EMU, especially when the EMU is under the particular windy circumstance.
