This paper describes a series of centrifuge experiments in which model displacement piles and pile groups were subjected to monotonic and cyclic tension loading. The experiments employed a new technique that allowed pile group installation and load testing to be conducted without the need to halt the centrifuge. Notwithstanding scale effects associated with the development of shaft friction on miniature piles, the experiments provide strong indications that the cyclic resistance of pile groups is significantly higher than that of single piles at comparable levels of tension cycling.
