Optical and Electrical Properties of Black Layer™ OEL displays

Luxell''s unique dark electrode Black Layer™ technology, originally designed to control contrast in OEL devices, is also shown to enhance their colour and luminance. As well it is demonstrated, through the measurement of luminance-current-voltage characteristics, that these enhancements are achieved at lower power. Results are applicable to Black Layer™ used in either the cathode in bottom emission devices or the anode in top emission devices.
