A UWB-based indoor positioning concept: problem formulation, system design and feasibility analysis

The Global Positioning System (GPS), used for outdoor location is not useful for most indoor environments. New indoor positioning technologies are beginning to appear on the market, but the obtained accuracy is not good enough. In this paper we study the main characteristics of UWB that makes this technology suitable for such uses. Further, we propose the use of VWB technology for indoor positioning applications.
