With the rapid development of Internet, traditional centralized routers can not meet the requirements of next generation Internet for reliability, performance scalability and service scalability. Clustered routers will be the most important components of future Internet. It is very important for clustered routers to maintain the same forwarding table images among clustered router nodes. Different synchronization mechanisms have variant performance to control plane and packet forwarding plane. This paper proposes an asymmetrical forwarding table synchronization algorithm - ARS (Asymmetrical Route Synchronization) . It fits the requirements of massively parallel clustered router architecture perfectly. Continuous route flapping of backbone network burdens control plane of core router and causes lots of synchronization costs for clustered router. ARS uses route cache to predict new best route when original best route is deleted and decreases synchronization costs greatly.
