Technical Essence of Digital Libraries

Based on its function, the ultimate objectives of digital library can be defined as two "Five Anies": "All (any) citizens anywhere anytime can use any Internet-connected digital device to search all (any) of human knowledge", "Any new knowledge anywhere anytime can be transmitted by any digital device to anyone who needs it". And there are two "Three Noes" to achieve the two "Five-Anies": "no delay, no rubbish, and no search missing", "no delay, no rubbish, and no transmission missing". The technical essence of digital library is Data Organization. At present, data organization technology is approaching a great breakthrough. The opportunity we have will enable us to achieve great, essential advancement in developing digital library in China.
