The rapid development in materials, devices and systems are revolutionizing optical communications. Nonlinear photonics is a fundamental and vital research area having interdisciplinary links with materials, devices and systems. In particular, nonlinear effects in periodic and disordered optical systems are expected to lead to new interesting phenomena, new concepts in photonics and photonic manifestations of classical physical effects from solitons to turbulence. The Symposium in ICCMSE2014 on Modeling of Nonlinear Photonics in Optical Communications: Materials, Devices, and Systems is a venue for researchers working in nonlinear optical processes in structures, devices and systems. The symposium features all aspects of nonlinear optics and photonics, especially in their applications in optical communications, covering theoretical, computational and experimental aspects of nonlinear processes in novel structures, devices and systems.
