Elizabeth Marina, Jersey ― Modelling marina entrance improvement works

1. ELIZABETH MARINA: Elizabeth Marina is a leisure facility for marine craft, which was opened in 1998 and occupies an area of approximately 69,000m~2 on a former inter-tidal region north of St. Helier Harbour, Jersey and to the eastern boundary of St Aubin Bay. At low water springs a significant part of the shallow inter-tidal approaches to the marina entrance dries out. To maintain water levels within the marina a hydraulically driven flap gate is operated to ensure that water is prevented from draining out from about mid-tide. When the flood tide exceeds the marina pond level at 5.69m above Chart Datum (ACD) the gate is lowered and access for leisure craft is permitted through the 15m wide entrance structure.
