An important task for future disaster prevention is to evaluate at high-spatial resolution the features of damage by a volcanic eruption. A large-scale eruption occurred in Kuchinoerabu Island, Kagoshima, Japan, on May 29, 2015. Pyroclastic flow released from this eruption reached the coastal areas. In the present study, the struck was investigated by obtaining detailed high-resolution satellite imagery. From the analysis of the changing trend of the normalized difference vegetation index value before and after the struck, the change in the land cover caused by the volcanic eruption was quantitatively shown. Moreover, the relative differences between the areas burnt by the volcanic eruption and the geographical features of the vegetation of the peripheral domain were revealed by analyzing the detailed geographical features of the inclination. The relationship between the burnt features via the volcanic eruption and geographical features of the slope of vegetation was determined.
