he structure of an implementation intention is the “if-then” strategy that bridges the course of action and the goals set by the individuals. The “if-then” strategy provides plans that promote an individual's self-regulation to implement courses of actions under specific situations and finally achieve preset goals. The use of implementation intention interventions in promoting effective multimedia learning has just attracted researchers' attention. This study sought to understand if implementation intention strategy promotes better visual search patterns and learning outcomes of third graders in multimedia environments. Eye-tracking technology was used in this study as a means for determining whether implementation intention strategy could have an effect on multimedia learners' visual search approaches and lead to better learning outcomes. Implementation intention intervention was found to have a positive impact on student learning in this study. The results showed that treatment group students seemed to be more concentrated than control group on reading the text message. Meanwhile, students received implementation intentions performed more searching and referring of information between text and pictorial formats of information. Future studies are suggested to realize if implementation intention strategy interact with the nature of the learning materials on affecting learners' learning outcome and information procession patterns.
