Seismic Verification Methods for Structures and Equipment of VVER-Type andRBMK-Type NPPs (Summary of Experiences)

The main verification methods for structures and equipment of already existing VVER-type and RBMK-type NPPsare briefly described in this paper. In this connection the following aspects are discussed: fundamental seismic safetyassessment principles for VVER/RBMK-type NPPs (seismic safety assessment procedure, typical work plan for seismicsafety assessment of existing NPPs, SMA (HCLPF) calculations, modified GIP (GIP-VVER) procedure, similarity ofVVER/RBMK equipment to that included in the SQUG databases and seismic interactions.
