Interconnected grids dispatch is vital for wind power accommodation, but the fast and flexible regulation of HVDC tie-line transmission power can bring on frequent action of reactive power control equipment, which can augment the fault probability of equipment. This paper presents a novel model for HVDC tie-line scheduling to operate interconnected grids. In particular, we introduce the concept of tie-line infeasible intervals and methods to construct the tie-line power model according to reactive power characteristics of traditional HVDC. In order to hedge frequent action of reactive power control equipment, we also convert the action times of equipment into reactive power adjustment cost as part of total cost. A case study of day-ahead generation scheduling of interconnected grids with a HVDC tie-line has proved the validity of this model.
