This paper shows a custom made five bus power system with a grid connected Distributed Generation (DG) source. The position of the distributed generation system is changed from bus 2 to bus 5 and the effect on bus parameters due to this change in DG position has been compared during an islanding situation. The various parameters that have been taken into account are rms voltage and current, active power, reactive power and frequency at each bus. The transmission lines connecting the buses each have a length of 100 kms. The simulation results have been obtained using MATLAB - Simulink software.
