The main attraction of plasma in industrial processing is the avoidance of chemical effluents. Other advantages included low cost, rapid reaction times, high cleaning efficiency, low consumption of gas due to physical effects, and the enclosed and dry nature of the process. Cotton and PET are popular material for surgical garments and drapes because of its comfort and low cost. Water proofing or water repellent effects are required for certain uses such as umbrella, cloth, raincoat fabric etc. When a uniform coating of suitable substance such as rubber or metals is produced on the surface of fabric, water will not pass through the treated fabric. Applying a low-pressure plasma process, the fiber's surface can be altered to make it repel water. In this research low temperature plasma of Argon is used. The quality of the repellent effect is evaluated by putting water drops on the fabric surface, and the properties of the fabrics are examined by surface analysis methods and textile technology test.
