An accurate characterization of streamer discharge propagation requires the use of an adaptivemesh. In this paper, we describe a one-dimensional moving mesh method and its application tostreamer discharge modelling. The method is formed of two independent parts : a mesh-movingscheme recently developed by Tang and Tang [1] and a third order finite volume method, theULTIMATE-QUICKEST scheme derived by Leonard [2]. The proposed method is evaluated on aselection of problems involved in streamer simulation, in point-to-plane and plane-to-planesystems. Propagation of streamer fronts is simulated in Nitrogen at atmospheric pressure in one andtwo dimensions. Computations show that the implementation of the 1D moving mesh methodincreases the accuracy of numerical solutions and decreases computation time costs.
