摘要

This paper describes a system for monitoring and diagnosing the condition status of tandem cold rolling mills in iron and steel manufacturing processes. The system is called Smart Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis System (S-CMDS). The S-CMDS utilizes various clustering methods in machine learning and Mahalanobis Distance (MD) mechanism to evaluate the fault conditions and indications of cold rolling mills in real time. Those methods to evaluate the machine conditions of rolling mills are operated in the smart data processing engine part of the S-CMDS. We successfully applied the S-CMDS into a real cold rolling process. Operators can intuitively notice the condition and operation problems of cold rolling mills by using the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) of S-CMDS displaying various statistical condition signals and diagnosis results of rolling mills. Therefore, the operators can respond to potential rolling mill faults through the S-CMDS in advance.
