In this study, injection configuration system to stabilize soil mass around a pile foundation with the microbially induced carbonate precipitation was developed and a simplified scheme for field implementation was proposed using seepage and chemical transport analysis. Experimental testing included a tracer experiment in a large-scale soil box with the results used to calibrate transport parameters for the numerical model. Results indicated that the use of a central injection through the pile lead to effective distribution of the tracer within the flow domain. The radius of the zone of influence was estimated as 8.5Z) based on the induced flow hydraulic gradient of 0.7. Target concentration was used as a design criterion to determine the injection duration. Analyses indicated 7.5 days of injection duration was needed to affect a zone having AD extent with a tracer concentration of 100%. Recommendations are presented regarding volume treatment scenarios with the use of single point injections.
