In recent study, Japan has been targeting to produce a low stress community to increase the health rate of the country. As stress is related to heart disease, preventing unhealthy stress can prevent any kind of heart disease. Regarding this, there is a need for the society to manage their stress wisely to prevent heart diseases. Therefore, a system to detect and manage the condition of our body stress in our daily basis is needed. In this research, as a step to analyze the stress level from the heart rate variability, a system that measures the heart rate and heart rate variability of a person using Android smartphone was proposed. The system used a built-in acceleration sensor Android smartphone calibrated with an inside application to measure the heart rate and the heart rate variability. In this paper, experiments evaluating the value of the heart rate and the heart rate variability measurement were performed to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed system.
