Abstract: This paper discusses a novel technique for reducing theeffects of microphony in pyroelectric infrared arrays.The method is an enhancement of the existingcompensation techniques and uses the digital signalprocessing methods. Specifically adaptive noisecancellation is employed to perform the compensation.The paper discusses the choice of the systemparameters, type of algorithm to be used andperformance of the technique when applied to arrayelements both close and distant in the array. Acomparison with conventional compensation is alsomade.!6
