A systems approach to undersanding the causes of instability in nations: a case study

One useful way of increasing understanding of the causes of violent conflict and possible approaches to its avoidance and resolution is the study of existing and historic conflicts, including comparison of situations which are otherwise relatively similar, except that one is characterised by violet conflict and the other is not. Thus the focus of this work is a comparative case study of the history of Scotland and Northern Ireland from a systems perspective. Copyright direct C 1998 IFAC
