A compact, shaped polarizer fitting into the feed of a lens antenna with f/D = 0.7 is described. By physically combining a dielectric polarizer with a “Venetian-blind” type polarizer a polarization isolation of greater than 15 dB from 9.0 GHz to 11.5 GHz was demonstrated. The polarization isolation was increased to a maximum of 22 dB by shaping the polarizer to better match the curved phase-front of the electric field from the feed horn.
