Miniaturization of Waveguide Structures by Coupled Transmission Lines

We introduce a new method to significantly reduce the size and thickness of waveguides using a new class of coupled transmission lines (CTLs). By increasing CTLs into the waveguide, new modes are generated that lower the cutoff frequency, and therefore reducing size for the same operational frequency. We considered circular as well rectangular waveguides. Due to their cutoff frequency CTL-loaded waveguides can be used at much lower frequencies and realized as extremely thin or sheet like transmission lines.
