A speed estimation scheme using synchronous reference frame frequency-locked loop (SRF-FLL) for the sensorless-vector-controlled linear induction motor (LIM) drives is proposed, which has the capabilities of achieving accurate speed estimation, good robustness to parameter variations and slight computation burden. Starting from the representation of electromotive force model of the LIM, a simple yet effective frequency estimation scheme is implemented. On the basis of that, the moving average filter (MAF)-based pre-filter and the amplitude normalization (AN) scheme are employed in the proposed speed estimation scheme for achieving the improvements of the estimation performance and the system robustness. The proposed SRF-FLL-based speed estimation scheme is tested under different operation conditions. Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test results are presented to confirm the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed speed estimation scheme.
