摘要

This paper provides new static VAR compensators SVCs schemes for inductive and capacitive reactive power. The developed schemes improve the controllability and power quality of SVCs by providing new circuit topologies and control strategy of the reactive power. New circuit topologies are introduced for thyristors switched reactors TSR and thyristors switched capacitors TSC to develop harmonic-free SVC with higher number of reactive power levels. This paper provides the control algorithm for the new SVC. The switching strategies of TSR and TSC are explained and applied. The required modifications in TSC to reduce transient effects and apply the switching strategies are implemented to obtain SVC with high power quality performance.
