Digital image processing technology that corrects deterioration of image quality originating in the camera lens was developed. Conditions corrected are distortion, transverse chromatic aberration, and peripheral light quantity. Such correction will enable quality improvements to images captured by One-Time-Use cameras, low cost compact cameras, and similar photographic devices. In addition, a fast and automatic correction system suited for certain types of One-Time-Use cameras has been devised and incorporated into the Digital Minilab System. This paper will discuss this method of correcting image quality deterioration originating in the camera lens and the application to a fast and automatic service comprising of the Digital Minilab System.
