Reinforced soil slopes using tire chips from the waste tires have gained importance inrnrecent construction practices. The objective of the present study is to evaluate thernengineering properties of Powai soil, waste rubber tire chips and soil tire chipsrnmixture relevant to geosynthetic-reinforced earthwork. Tests were conducted tornobtain shear str ength parameters of soil and soil–tire chips mixture. The centrifugernmodeling was carried out to study the slope stability for varying D/H ratio (where Drn= depth of the foundation soil and H = height of the slope) for un-reinforced andrnreinforced soil slopes. The analysis of the centrifuge modeling results was done usingrnReinforced Soil Slopes (RSS) Program to obtain the factor of safety of the slopes.rnThis study shows an increase in the factor of safety with increase in the percentage ofrnthe tire chips (2.5 % to 10 %).
