Abstract: A comprehensive, time dependent model of a semiconductor laser/amplifier is applied to such a device, inhomogeneously pumped, operating near Fabry-Perot resonance to produce wavelength conversion. The model includes spontaneous emission as a function of wavelength and carrier density, with photon density and carrier density functions of cavity length. Results indicate theoretical operating range for signal wavelengths and powers and comparison is made with experimentally obtained data.!15
