INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN THE MARINE WFSV SECTORS - LEGAL ISSUES PRACTICAL TIPS

The following article first aims to provide a brief introduction to the basics of Intellectual Property rights relevant to the marine sector, for the uninitiated. It further goes on to describe some of the more specific aspects of the international Intellectual Property regime which apply in the marine sector. Some practical examples of types of Intellectual Property used in the marine sector are given and illustrations of the types of commercial intelligence which can be gathered from the published Intellectual Property registers are given, with specific reference to an example from wind farm support vessels.
