A simple and effective a ctive seat suspension for agricultural vehicles

The transportation human stress on the driver of an agricultural vehicle has several negative effects. At the present work an active control algorithm has been developed, constructed and validated in the laboratory and in in-situ tests with a truck at especially rough road profiles. The major limitations to the controller are set by an innovative variable reluctance actuator and are handled by a skyhook controller. Being robust and simple, based on the absolute velocity feedback of the seat, this skyhook controller gives to the system a naturally damped behaviour.
