A beamline named BACH (Beamline for Advanced diCHroism), thought to perform light polarization dependent experiments like adsorption and photoemision spectroscopy as well as X-ray scattering, is under commissioning at the ELETTRA Synchrotron Radiation Source in Trieste, Italy. It will be based on a Padmore VASGM (Variable Angle SGM) monochromator which is capable of producing highly monochromatized light: typical resolving powers, using three gratings, will be 20000-6000, 20000-6000 and 15000-5000 in the energy ranges 35-160eV, 200-500eV and 500-1500eV respectively. Two separate branches will be built after the monochromator, starting from the horizontal refocusing chamber which allocates two switching mirrors, ending with two different experimental chambers.
