Current Work Safety Inspection: Problems and Solutions

Work safety inspection has been a long-standing practice in the administration of work safety in the People's Republic of China. As early as 1956, work safety inspection, as an important part of work safety, was already in "Three Rules" and "Five Regulations", which were formulated under the direct guidance of the then Premier Zhou Enlai. As China is now undergoing a transitional period from planned economy to socialist market economy, coupled with China' s booming enterprises of different ownerships, strengthening work safely supervision and inspection, as a measure to ensure work safety, is becoming all the more important for governments at various levels. In recent years, large-scale work safety campaigns have been carried out across the country at least once a year. The State Council has also dispatched work safety inspection teams to oversee and evaluate the work by local governments and in key industries and areas. These measures have given a full expression to the spirit inherent in the guiding principles laid down in the Chinese Communist Parry's (CPC) work report of its 16th National Conference --- "We must attach great importance to the issue of work safety and protect state properties and people' s lives".
