摘要

In distributed applications, a group of multiple applications has to send and receive data, and communicate by using a high-speed network. However, this communication may be difficult in a heterogeneous distributed computing environment. In this paper, we introduce a communication infrastructure between heterogeneous distributed applications, called Virtual network Device (VND). VND provides a common object-orinted communication environment to all applications independent of implemented functions. VND is an interface for comunication services that are mapped into virtual ones. It presents the virtual the virtual services to application programs through specific primitives. The primitives are used by application developers to establish, release and abort a connexion. VND is based on an object-oriented modelisation of communication services that encapsulates and Application Programming Interface (API) into generic model.
