Developing Key Performance Indicators and National Standards for Effective China Transit Metropolis Traffic Evaluation

摘要

Significant developments, in the past two decades, in deploying Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) by various operating agencies throughout China. This paper describes urgent needs, approaches designed, and up-to-date progress being made to establish the key performance indicators (KPI) to support the performance evaluation as a part of the "China's Transit Metropolis Demonstration Project." The concentrated efforts have been supported through both China Ministry of Transport (CN.MOT), China Academy of Transport Science (CATS), and Volvo Research Foundation since 2010. New technologies, such as the ITS applications (smart public transport terminals, ITS APTS technology, bus rapid transit, and alternative energy vehicles, etc.,), are being implemented.
