There are about 9,560 traditional market, called pasar,spread across Indonesia most of which are more than 25 yearsold and managed by local administrations. In Indonesia’scapital city, Jakarta, as the modern life growth is very rapid,the existence of pasar is more threatened than the other area.Since 1985 until now, there is 153 units pasar in Jakarta, andmost of it are neglected. While the modern market growth isvery rapid. Currently, it is estimated there are about 2,162minimarkets operating in Jakarta. And Jakarta has manymodern shopping mall around 170 that not balance withJakarta’s population which around 10 million people.
