The T-ll is the currently fielded static line mass tactical parachute system in the U.S. Army, replacing the T-10. The purpose of this test activity was to simulate a T-ll parachute entanglement for evaluation purposes, in response to an unprecedented entanglement event during a previous live jump. Due to the exceptionality of this event, the simulation test required unique procedures to assure maximum safety of personnel and equipment to be accomplished with the use of a mannequins being deployed from a UH-1H aircraft at Yuma Test Center (YTC). As a result of the testing, the unique test equipment and procedures developed showed to be useful in simulating a parachute entanglement. Also, the T-ll demonstrated an ability to stabilize and descend to the ground at a vertical descent rate significantly lower than the capability threshold of 27 feet per second (ft/s). The design of the T-ll main canopy allowed both entangled parachutes to remain inflated and stable after deployment.
