The Nd~(3+) doped strontium hexa-aluminates crystals Sr_(1-x)Nd_yLa_(x-y)Mg_xAl_(12-x)O_(19) - ASL are interesting for ~4F_(3/2)→~4I_(9/2) laser emission in 900 nm range. To improve the laser emission characteristics, a detailed correlation between spectral characteristics and composition is necessary. The results of spectral investigation of Nd~(3+) in ASL on an extended composition range are presented. Spectral characteristics of three types of non-equivalent Nd~(3+) centers, optimal compositions for dominance of every center and the cationic distribution types are analyzed.
