摘要

Strengthening of existing concrete structures using externally bonded fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) has gained wide acceptance nowadays. The main focus of many past studies has been on the short-terM behaviour of concrete structures externally bonded with FRP composites. Recently increasing attention has also been paid to their long-term performance under various environmental actions and extreme loading like fire. This paper presents a summary of some recent research conducted by the author within the context of FRP strengthening. The contents include performance optimization of FRP-to-concrete bond interface, bond mechanisms of near surface mounted (NSM) FRP reinforcement, seismic retrofit of RC columns, durability of FRP-strengthened Rc structures and fire performance of FRP-strengthened RC structures. Much of the above research work is being conducted in collaboration with Prof Jin-Guang Teng, the leader of the research group on "Emerging Structural Materials and Systems (ESMS)" at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
