China ― Let a Thousand Sources Bloom! (Comments to accompany an online slide presentation)

We are at the gate of the 21~(st) Century and in the eyes of many, that gate is looking more Chinese every day. There is no question that we need to gear up for the coming deluge of China information requests. But are there really a thousand sources? Let me put it this way. If the Great Wall of China were moved to San Antonio, it would extend to Halifax, Nova Scotia ― and back again. And if you gathered all the information sources for China, you could drive from San Antonio to Halifax in about the time it would take to review them. My topic is China business and economic information. My goal is to help colleagues gain a foothold in surmounting two great walls. First ― the surplus of sources, with a review of recommendations. Second ― the quality of sources, with clues for flagging the dubious references.
