Using Mind Maps in the Development Process of the SAHOAPI System

摘要

This paper describes the use of mind maps applied to all the development process of the SAHOAPI System (Sistema de Asignacion de Horarios para Alumnos de Primer Ingreso), to Facultad de Ingenieria, Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP). Mind maps have demostrated to be an effective form of administration projects, starting from planning, organization, control, analysis, follow-up and training of final end users. In this work a mind map is considered as a graphic which allows representation of knowledge in a more precise form, making it more significant for those who use and create it. Additional information is added at the nodes and arcs of the graph, being these images, photographs, typographic strips and if a computer program is utilized for its creation, hypertext, hyperlinks, audio and video can be incorporated. Considering that if the data could be represented as a graphic then, these could also be represented as a mind map. With this work, the use of mind maps in the first stages of development of the SAHOAPI system highlights the advantages and disadvantages that were obtained in each phase of the project utilizing this technique.
