Automatic Color Restoration of Faded Pictures and Motion Pictures

The dye fading phenomenon is a major threat to millions ofrncinematographic and photographic works. A bleached image isrncharacterized by drab colors and a strong color cast.rnBleaching is a chemically irreversible process, hence thernnecessity of digital restoration.rnIn this paper, we present a survey of recent digital filmrnrestoration techniques. These digital techniques aim to removernthe color cast and to revive the colors of the damaged images byrnbalancing the colors and enhancing the image with no a priorirnknowledge.
