[~(99m)Tc]-ECDG detection of the induced infection was visually identified on the whole body static images after 1 h post-injection. The research also revealed that [~(99m)Tc]-ECDG can be used for the detection of small infections. The infection detection of [~(99m)Tc]-ECDG at 6 h post-injection are superior to the infection detection of ~(67)Ga-citrate at 24 and 48 h. Detection of tumours with [~(99m)Tc]-ECDG are feasible at 4 h since the tumour/muscle uptake is the highest at that time interval. [~(99m)Tc]-ECDG visually demonstrated lower biodistribution to the brain than [~(18)F]-FDG (gold standard) in baboons while excretion was through the kidneys into the bladder. Improved imaging of tumours is therefore possible.
